Take one step and the next will reveal itself” – Jesse Livermore
What are your hobbies? Do they include: playing an instrument, lifting weights, eating healthy, blogging, creating youtube videos, graphic designing, being fashionable, playing video games, painting, remodeling homes, modeling, etc.? Do you enjoy doing them? Well, guess what, you can absolutely turn these into a career!
Most of you are probably saying to yourself, “it’s hard”, “I won’t make any money doing that”, “my parents want me to get a REAL job”, “where is the stability?”. To me, these all sound like excuses. In today’s age, people can generate an income by posting about their hobbies from an Instagram account. New career paths are being created that we never would’ve imagined.
So you play an instrument and consider yourself above average. One option of turning it into a career could be providing one on one lessons for beginners. This could be done through in-person sessions, music schools, online videos, or even by creating an online course. Another option is becoming an artist of some sort. Go try out for certain groups, play on a street corner in Nashville. Or create a Youtube channel and build a following on social media. There are so many more opportunities within music but you get my point. Find them by researching online and talking to others in the industry. If you commit yourself, I promise you’ll find an avenue you feel fulfilled in.
How can I turn my weight lifting and/or eating healthy into a career? If you have a smartphone, have access to a camera or computer, and have social media accounts, then you are properly equipped! Start taking pictures and videos of your progress to build a following if that’s what you’re looking into. Say you don’t even want to bother with the social media route. You can start a personal training or nutrition company. Today, others are looking to become fit or have a healthier diet and want the best advice. You can be of service to them based on your knowledge! Maybe owning a business sounds terrifying? That’s not a problem because there are many companies you can work with who need your expertise!
These are all great hobbies and just two examples, but what is stopping others from turning them into careers? Personally, I don’t have the answer to that because everyone’s scenario is different. What I do know is that if you are in a position where you don’t enjoy what you are doing, then research what you’d rather do and take action. Start by opening up Google and start typing. Also, begin talking to others about what you want to do. Try to connect with someone who is in your desired industry. Reach out to them and ask them questions! Understand how others got to where you want to be and ask for guidance along the way. After taking those actions and joining the Perfect Circle community ;), you’ll be surprised at how many people are happy to guide you in the right direction.
